I used to think a quarter inch gap on guide rails was fine until a call in Toledo

Got a service call for a rough ride on a 15 year old Otis unit last month, and found the guide rail gaps were all at my old standard of 0.25 inches. The building super pointed out a new spec sheet from the manufacturer that said 0.125 inches max, and tightening them up made the car run like new. How many of us are still running on old tolerances we learned on the job?

Yeah, I had the same thing happen... found an old spec sheet in the machine room that was way off from the current standards.

Yeah @hugo_grant, always check the latest manual because those old numbers will bite you.
