Tried tapping the brake drum with a hammer to line up an old Otis, now the governor has a stutter
Last Tuesday in a 12-story building near the Port of Oakland I gave that tired brake drum a friendly tap and the next run sounded like a snare drum solo, so has anyone else had a fix go sideways that turned into a two-day call?

Did you hit it with a dead blow or a sledge, cause I once fixed a squeaky door hinge with a butter knife and ended up rebuilding half the car. Now my rule is if it needs a tap, it needs a plan first, and if I say "just a quick tap" out loud, somebody better call the parts guy. How long did the stutter last before you caved and opened the controller?
