A client's comment about her routine made me change how I talk about extractions
I was doing a facial on a regular client yesterday, and she mentioned she'd been using a comedone extractor at home because she saw it on a video. I told her straight up that's a great way to get scars. She said 'But you do it, why can't I?' That hit different because it wasn't about the tool, it was about my process. I explained the prep, the steam, the pressure control, and the aftercare I do that she doesn't see. How do you guys explain the 'why' behind your techniques to stop clients from copying things at home?

My cousin tried that and got a nasty infection.

Ugh, that's such a common trap. I always tell clients it's like watching a chef cook and thinking you can do it, but you're missing all the knife skills and timing. Like @betty_walker's cousin shows, skipping the prep work has real risks they don't see on camera. My go-to is to literally walk them through each safety step I take that their bathroom mirror misses.
