I was at a skin care convention in Portland and a random comment about steamers changed my whole routine

Wait, a random comment at a convention did all that? I have to know what they said... because I've been using a steamer for years and always thought it was a basic step. Did someone say it's actually bad for your skin or something? That would totally wreck my whole process too.

They claimed steamers can mess with your skin's natural barrier over time, making it more sensitive. My whole routine was built around opening up pores before treatments, so hearing that felt like a personal attack on my bathroom cabinet. It sent me down a rabbit hole of conflicting articles and video reviews. Now I'm side-eyeing my steamer like it betrayed me, but I also miss how my face felt after using it. What's your take, do you think there's any real truth to that idea?

Honestly sounds like one of those skincare myths that gets passed around. I'd need to see some real proof before ditching a tool that works.
