Stubborn grandma's pie crust recipe left me with a flour bomb in my kitchen

I was in my mom's tiny apartment in Cleveland trying to follow her handwritten instructions for her famous apple pie crust, but she swore by ice water from the tap only and no chilling the butter. Ended up with a sticky mess that glued itself to my rolling pin and flung flour all over the counters, floor, and my sweater.
