My glass weight cracked and now I'm done with fancy gear
I was fermenting some carrots with a glass weight and it just shattered into the jar. It's like these products are made to fail and make a bigger mess than they prevent. Who else has given up on weights and just uses a cabbage leaf or something?

Premium products just overcomplicate simple tasks.

Switched to a small ceramic plate after my last glass weight disintegrated. Fits inside the jar mouth, keeps everything submerged without the risk of shards. Rinsing it off is easier than fishing out a weight anyway.
