Can we talk about hitting 10,000 square feet installed in a single year
I just passed 10,000 square feet of flooring laid this year and honestly, it surprised me more than I expected. Everyone in my crew talks about square footage like it's the only measure of success, but I hit that number last Tuesday and felt... empty. The real milestone for me was finishing a tricky 400 square foot job in an old house in Richmond where every subfloor was crooked and every cut had to be custom. Does anyone else find that the hard jobs matter way more than the total number?

Is your crew actually measuring success the same way you are though? lol. I remember this one time we did a Victorian with floors that looked flat but sagged 2 inches across the room, took forever to shim everything level. Its the weird custom cuts and the problem solving that stick with you, not the easy big rooms. The total number is just something you throw around at supply houses to flex.

Oh yeah, nothing says success like bragging about square footage while your back still hurts from that one crooked subfloor.
