Warning: Those cheap buckets from the hardware store ruined my lily shipment

I bought 6 five-gallon buckets from a discount store to cut costs, ended up losing $150 worth of Asiatic lilies. The plastic had some chemical residue that wilted the stems within 2 hours after I put them in. I figured a bucket is a bucket, but now I ONLY use food-grade ones from my supplier. Anyone else have a bad experience with off-brand buckets?

Honestly just seems like you got lucky so far. Tbh buckets are hit or miss depending on what you're using them for and how much weight you put in them. Ngl I've seen some cheap ones crack or warp after a while if you leave them sitting in the sun. Might not be a huge deal but still worth keeping an eye on.
