Rant: Best week underwater vs worst day on the job - can't decide which changed me more

Damn that Port Angeles day sounds absolutely terrifying, are you okay now?

Warning: that one week in June where every client had a reaction to the same product line

Goodness, I switched to batch testing a small sample on myself first before recommending anything new to clients.

Used to just wing it with wood glue, now I actually measure out clamping time

One thing to keep in mind is that Titebond II only needs about 20-30 minutes in the clamps, not a full 30 before you can touch it. Rushing the cure is tempting for sure, but moisture and temperature in your shop can change how fast it sets. Maybe try checking the bottle for the exact open time next time before you walk away.

Appreciation post for clipper oil over aerosol spray

Funny thing nobody talks about is how aerosol spray builds up on the inside of the clipper casing over time. Took mine apart after years of using spray and there was this sticky film coating everything inside. Oil just drips through and doesn't leave that residue behind. Also noticed my blades stop catching hair as fast with oil since it doesn't get all gummy like spray does when it mixes with dirt and hair dust. The motor on my 76s actually sounds quieter now too, less strain on it overall.

I was dead wrong about duplexes being a bad investment

That 80k in value is probably more like 60k if we're being real. London's market cooled off a bit from the crazy highs in 2022, so the peak might have been higher but the current value depends on when you actually check it. Still, 60k of equity in 2 years plus rental income is a solid win no matter how you slice it. I know someone who bought a duplex in Kitchener around the same time and the numbers are similar, maybe even a little better since Waterloo Region has more demand from tech workers. The headache part is real though, not everyone can handle being a landlord.
