That one Saturday at the farmers market when my fryer died during the lunch rush

Had 47 orders backed up and a line of hangry customers watching me dump a whole batch of half-cooked fries into the trash and I wanted to just close up and walk away right then - anyone else ever had their gear fail at the worst possible moment?

Honestly I was just reading this article about how restaurants have this weird obsession with fry perfection and it made me think of that half-cooked trash move. They said some places actually throw away fries that aren't up to their standard in the first two minutes, but then they serve you the sad ones later anyway. Ngl it kind of explains why fast food is such a gamble sometimes. Tbh I'd rather get slightly soggy fries than watch someone chuck a whole batch just because they were a minute off. Makes me wonder how much food gets wasted across all the chains every single day.
