My old iPod mini bricked itself during a road trip through Nebraska

I was driving through Kearney and the screen just went black in the middle of a mix I made in 2005. I ended up pulling over at a rest stop and jiggling the headphone jack until it somehow revived itself. Anyone else have a gadget freeze up at the worst possible moment?

Jiggle the headphone jack? That's a new one on me. I mean, you got lucky it worked but that sounds more like a loose connection than a real bricking situation. A bricked iPod wouldn't come back from that, it'd be a paperweight for good.

That headphone jack jiggle reminding me of how half the stuff in my life only works if you treat it just right. Like my minivan's glovebox that I have to smack on the left side before it'll latch shut. It's not broken, it's just got a personality. Your iPod probably knew you were in the middle of Nebraska and figured you needed a scare to stay awake.
