Unpopular opinion: mechanical keyboards from 1995 feel way better than any modern one I've tried

Got handed an old IBM Model M at a retro computing meetup last Saturday and now my $200 gaming keyboard feels like mashing stale marshmallows in comparison, anyone else find newer tech actually took steps backward in feel?

Bruh I feel that so hard. Spent like 20 minutes peeling my thumb off a Cherry MX switch after a glue mishap. Still got a little bit of residue on my spacebar from that day.
