Can we talk about how I was charging my phone wrong for years?

I was watching a video from a tech reviewer, I think it was Mrwhosetheboss, and he said something that made me pause. He mentioned that keeping your phone plugged in at 100% all night is actually bad for the battery's long term health. I had my phone on the charger from like 10 PM to 7 AM every single night. The guy explained that modern lithium batteries get stressed when they sit at full charge for hours, and it's better to keep them between 20% and 80%. I felt so dumb because I work in IT and I should know this stuff. Now I use a basic outlet timer I got for $12 to cut power after about an hour of charging. My battery health on my two year old phone has only dropped to 92% since I started doing this three months ago, which feels way better. Has anyone else tried a trick like this and noticed a real difference?

Have you tried just using a slow charger instead? An old 5 watt brick from an older phone charges way slower so you can plug it in overnight and it won't sit at 100% for hours.

Wait, that actually works? I always thought the battery thing was overblown. Might have to try that timer trick.

Right? So many life hacks are just simple fixes.
