My dad asked why I always need the newest phone

We were looking at my old Galaxy S9 in a drawer last weekend. He said 'it still works fine, what changed?' Made me realize I just chase specs. Anyone else keep old tech that still does the job?

I saw a thread the other day where someone couldn't get their S9 to work with a specific smart home sensor they bought off Amazon. That kind of thing matters if you're trying to automate your whole house. Most people probably don't need it but it shows the phone has limits.
