I was putting my workbench in the wrong spot for years

I always had my main bench against the back wall of my garage, thinking it would keep the center clear. After finishing a project last week, my back was killing me from walking back and forth to my tool chest on the side wall. My wife came out to ask a question and just said, 'You look like you're running laps in here.' That was the lightbulb moment. I moved the bench to form an 'L' shape with the chest, so everything is within two steps. It sounds so simple, but it changed the whole flow. I'm not wasting steps or turning around constantly. Has anyone else had a layout idea that seemed wrong at first but fixed a big headache?

Ever notice how we fight the simplest fixes? Your wife's comment was the perfect nudge to stop you overthinking a basic layout problem. Sometimes the best solution is the one that makes you feel a little silly for not seeing it sooner.

What kind of projects were you doing that made the back-and-forth so bad, like were you constantly grabbing the same few tools?
