That Saturday at Home Depot changed my whole garage floor plan

I was standing in the epoxy aisle at Home Depot after watching a guy demo his urethane floor that chipped after 6 months, and it got me thinking about durability versus cost. The urethane guy was ranting about how epoxy held up better in his buddy's shop near Buffalo with the road salt and all that. So which way do you lean for a daily driver garage that sees snow and salt every winter - epoxy or polyaspartic?

Floors are like most things in life. People chase the cheap option first then pay double later. My buddy did the same thing with his driveway sealer. Bought the $20 bucket instead of the $60 one. Now he's scraping and resealing every year. Epoxy handles salt better in my experience. Polyaspartic looks nice but it's too finicky for real abuse. People forget garages are work spaces not showrooms.

The epoxy guy's point about road salt is worth paying attention to. Polyaspartic can fail if moisture gets trapped under it, especially with the freeze/thaw cycles we get up north. Have you checked what the concrete moisture level is in your garage? The best coating in the world won't matter if the slab itself isn't ready. That's the part most people skip and then wonder why their floor peels up after one winter.
