inMy car's odometer hit exactly 111,111 miles while I was driving past the old water tower on Elm Street
That water tower on Elm Street has been there since I was a kid.

inMy brother told me to just throw everything in the slow cooker for chili
Honestly, that's my exact method and it always works for me! Maybe your cooker runs too hot or something.

inSerious question, has anyone else switched from a standard 18 gauge nailer to a 16 gauge for thicker engineered floors?
Yeah, and @gray_nelson is spot on about stopping the shifts. I had a client who INSISTED on reusing their old 5/4 pine subfloor for a new engineered install. My 18 gauge was just skating on that hard old wood. Switched to the 16 and it was like sinking teeth into it. That floor isn't going ANYWHERE. Sometimes the old tools just aren't right for the new job.

inHad to choose between a cheap flight and a 12-hour train ride last month
Honestly, the biggest win for me was the lack of airport stress. No security lines, no taking off my shoes, just show up and get on. That mental peace made the longer trip time actually feel shorter.

inOur big ladle crane gave out mid-pour yesterday afternoon, total mess.
Just eyeballing it until it snaps seems to be the standard inspection method. Works every time, except when it doesn't.
