So I dropped my favorite agate in a creek in Oregon...

I was out near the McKenzie River last month, showing a friend this really nice blue banded agate I'd found. I was holding it up to the light to show the bands, and my hand just slipped... it plopped right into about two feet of fast moving water over gravel. My heart sank, I thought it was gone for good. I spent the next twenty minutes on my hands and knees, feeling around in the cold water with my fingers. The creek bed was all the same gray, wet rocks and it looked impossible. I almost gave up, but then my pinky brushed against one smooth, round shape that felt different. I pulled it out and there it was, a bit muddy but totally fine. Has anyone else had a close call like that with a specimen they really liked?

Oh man, my buddy found this old comic book in his attic last month, just sitting in a box of his dad's junk. He was so pumped, said it felt like winning the lottery.
