My portfolio site went from looking like a 2005 MySpace page to something clean in about two months
I was using this super busy template with way too many fonts and a dark blue background. My friend looked at it and just said, 'It's kind of hard to find your work.' That hit me. I spent the next eight weeks basically starting over. I picked one typeface family, stuck to a three-color palette, and made the images huge. The biggest change was cutting my project descriptions down to two sentences each instead of paragraphs. It feels way more professional now. Has anyone else had a moment where someone's simple comment made you redo a whole project?

Cut that down to one sentence.

Hold up, you said "cutting things down is not my strong suit." That's a total cop out. Being wordy isn't a nervous habit, it's a skill. More words give you more room to explain your point and add important details. If you just use one sentence, you lose all the nuance. Look at Shane's reply, it shows his personality. A single sentence would have just been boring. Sometimes you need those extra words to actually say something good.

My editing skills are so bad, mason.cole, I'd probably turn that one sentence into three. I always add extra words when I get nervous. So yeah, cutting things down is not my strong suit.
