My sister-in-law pointed out my guest lounge looks like a waiting room from 2005...
She said, 'It's so clean and quiet it feels like a doctor's office,' which made me realize I'd been focusing on keeping it perfect for guests instead of making it a place where people actually want to hang out.

Honestly that's a huge compliment. A waiting room is clean, calm, and nobody stays too long. Perfect for in-laws. Keep it exactly how it is.

@sandra693 has a point about keeping things nice for guests, but it makes you wonder how many of us have a space that's so clean nobody wants to touch anything... It's like how stores put fancy items on a pedestal and you feel bad even breathing near them.
