A customer's superglue fix turned into a full barrel replacement
I had a guy come in last week with a shotgun that wouldn't close. He said he fixed a loose sight with superglue, and now the action was stuck. I spent two hours trying to dissolve the glue without damaging the bluing. The customer kept insisting it was a quick fix because he saw it online. In the end, I had to replace the whole barrel assembly because the glue seeped into the mechanism. It's crazy how some people think household adhesives are okay for firearms. I guess I should start offering a class on basic gun care.

Superglue can work for minor gun repairs if applied carefully. Many DIY fixes online show successful results with common adhesives. Not every loose part requires a professional gunsmith right away. Sometimes a temporary hold gets the job done until proper tools are available. Blaming the glue ignores user error in application. Plenty of hunters have patched things up in the field without catastrophic failures.

Wait, did he just say superglue for gun repairs? I mean idk maybe it's just me but that sounds like a terrible idea.

Yeah, "temporary hold" is how I ended up with a scope glued to my forehead once. What's the worst field repair you've actually seen work?
