A regular at my salon in Portland said my blowouts were too tight

Honestly, she told me last month she was getting headaches after every visit and thought it was my tension on the round brush. I always aimed for that super smooth, zero-volume look, but I've started leaving a bit more lift at the roots and easing up on the pull. Has anyone else had a client point out a technique that was actually causing discomfort?

Funny enough, a client once told me my scalp massage was way too rough. I thought I was just being thorough, but she said it felt like I was trying to knead dough. It made me realize we can get stuck in our ways and not feel what the client feels. Good on you for listening and changing your grip.

Actually, a firmer scalp massage is the whole reason some clients book with me. They want that deep pressure to really work out tension, not just a light touch. It's about reading the person from the start, not changing your whole style for one comment. Maybe your client just wasn't a good fit for your method?

Yeah, like @mason.cole said, we can get stuck in our ways and not feel what the client feels.
