Pro tip: A bleach mix went wrong on a client from Dayton last week
I was doing a full highlight on a new client, and my 30 volume developer felt way too warm when I mixed it. I went ahead anyway, and after 15 minutes her scalp was bright red. I rinsed it out fast, applied a cool water compress, and used a heavy dose of aloe gel. Has anyone else had a batch of developer go bad like that, and what's your go-to for a chemical burn?

Yikes, that sounds so painful for your client. Honestly, when you say the developer felt warm, was it just the bottle or the actual mix? I had a bottle go bad once and the liquid itself was almost hot to the touch, like it was reacting in the container. What brand were you using?

That whole thing about the liquid getting hot reminds me of when I was mixing up a batch of something in the kitchen once and the bottle started fizzing and getting warm in my hand. I freaked out and ran it under cold water, but I guess some stuff just reacts if it sits too long or if the temp changes. So yeah, I get that scary feeling of a warm bottle, and I bet your client's developer was probably already going bad or something.

Man, I used to think the developer temp didn't matter. A bad burn from a warm mix changed my mind for good. Now I keep a bottle of that burn gel with lidocaine in my kit at all times.
