Serious question, why are we still blaming avalanches for the Dyatlov Pass incident?

I mean, there are so many weird details that don't fit. At a book club meeting, I mentioned this and half the room looked at me like I was crazy.

Seriously, how can anyone still buy the avalanche story? I had the same thing happen at a family dinner last month. I brought up the radiation on their clothes and the missing tongues. Everyone just shrugged and said it must have been an animal. But animals don't fold clothes neatly or leave burns like that. It makes no sense to stick with the simple answer when nothing adds up.
