Yeah that totally tracks. What's the main thing you learned there that doesn't translate to a bigger crowd? Is it just the pressure, or something about the connection? Give me an example.

My buddy Mike played a solo set at a tiny bookstore in Asheville last year. He said he could watch one guy's foot tapping to the rhythm and actually slow the next song down just for him because it felt right. In a big club, that foot is just a blur in a dark room, and the feedback is just a wall of noise. The whole show becomes about energy, not those quiet little moments of back and forth.
