Rant: The crew thinks coffee and cigarettes are a fine breakfast, but my doctor disagrees.
Most guys on site start the day with just caffeine and a smoke. I switched to eating eggs and toast every morning after feeling dizzy on a beam. My energy levels are steady now, and I don't crash by lunch. Skipping real food might seem tough, but it's asking for trouble up high. Try a proper meal for a week and see the difference.

Yeah, the part about feeling dizzy on a beam hits home. My buddy Steve, a roofer, used to do the same coffee and cigs routine until he got light-headed and almost stepped off a ladder. His wife made him start eating oatmeal with peanut butter every morning and he says he hasn't had a shaky moment since. How long did it take for you to notice the steady energy?

Steve's switch to oatmeal and peanut butter isn't for everyone on site. I know plenty of crew who function perfectly fine with just coffee and a cigarette, no crashes or dizziness. Sometimes pushing a big meal early just doesn't fit the pace or the stomach for this kind of work.

Heard a podcast once that said skipping breakfast can mess with your focus later... especially for tough jobs. They mentioned how caffeine and nicotine just mask tiredness without giving real fuel. So even a small bite like peanut butter toast could keep the shakes away.
