Rant: My cousin thought I just sanded wood all day

Good point about sharing process photos. Though to be fair, sanding is a huge part of the job and it's what makes everything else look good. Can't skip it.

Showerthought: Rushing through a condenser coil cleaning job backfired badly.

Seeing that part about rushing a coil clean job backfiring, my friend learned the hard way too. He once just sprayed a coil quick and called it done, leaving matted leaves and grime inside. Two days later, the system froze up solid on a hot day. The repair bill was huge because the pressure switch failed. He never skips the brush and cleaner now. It turned one hour of lazy work into a full afternoon of pain.

My third interview was weeks ago and still no word, ugh

That post office story shows how systems just slow down for no clear reason. You see it at the DMV where lines crawl because someone forgot to update a computer system. Even in schools, permission slips can sit on a desk for weeks before anyone acts. Paperwork seems to enter a black hole until it magically reappears.

Encountering regenerative drives in new builds is shifting my daily routine

Notice you had to use an online manual to fix that controller setting. Are you finding you need way more software or network skills now than even five years ago? Like, last month I got called for an elevator fault that was just a corrupted software update, not a broken part at all. Does it feel like half the job is becoming IT work, chasing down bad code or wrong settings instead of swapping out physical components?

Everyone says shop work is king, but my Alaska trip proved otherwise.

Know guys who work the North Slope rigs. Seen diesel turn to jelly and steel crack like glass if you look at it wrong. That kind of cold changes everything, makes simple jobs a fight. Serious respect for anyone who gets it done out there.
