Discovered a simple plywood trick for sidewalk joints

I've been finishing concrete for about 12 years now, mostly driveways and sidewalks around Cincinnati. Last month I was working a job for a guy who wanted a really clean decorative joint pattern on his walkway. I always used a regular groover tool but kept getting ragged edges that needed grinding. My old timer neighbor saw me struggling and told me to try using a piece of 1/4 inch plywood as a straightedge guide instead of just freehanding the tool. I cut a board to 8 feet long and clamped it to the forms, then ran the groover along it. The joints came out dead straight and the edges were so clean I barely had to touch them. Anyone else use plywood guides like this or do you have a better system?

The 6-month transformation on my '02 Civic after a proper valve adjustment

I kept chasing a rough idle on my old Civic for months, tried cleaning the IACV and swapping plugs, nada. Finally dove in and adjusted the valves myself, lash was way off on three cylinders. Idle smoothed right out, and I swear the gas mileage went up by about 4 mpg over the next half year. Anyone else see that kind of change from a simple adjustment job?

I think home runs are way overrated for cable management in server racks

Maybe it's just me but I see everyone obsessing over those perfect home run cables in a rack where every single wire is measured and tied down perfect. But idk I've been working on a datacenter in Phoenix for 5 years now and I swear the racks where we leave a little slack and use vertical cable managers actually run better. The difference showed up after about 8 months when we had to swap out 12 switches in one rack - the perfect home run setup took twice as long to untangle and reroute. Has anyone else dealt with a situation where the pretty cabling made future work way harder than it needed to be?
