Changed my bean buying habits after an eye opener

Can I admit my first step into ethical shopping was just staring at the bean shelf in total confusion? I felt like I needed a detective's license to figure it out, and I'm pretty sure I picked the "fair trade" option that was just fancy packaging over normal beans once. I get what hugo441 means about labels being marketing, it's a real minefield. But for me, trying to do a little better, even if I mess it up sometimes, feels worth the extra few cents.

I used to argue that phones and tablets were just tools, no different than a map or a camera. Seeing those kids glued to screens while missing the whole point of the hike really got to me though. You're right, those random, long talks with strangers were the best part. Now I miss them too and I get why it feels like something's gone.
