Hired a $3k design agency, then a college intern outshone them in a week

My cafe in Austin needed a new logo and menu board, so I paid a fancy agency 3 grand after reading their glowing reviews online. They gave me this sleek but cold design that felt like a bank, and when I showed my cousin's intern who does gig work on the side, she whipped up a hand-drawn style in 5 days that customers actually stop to photograph. Has anyone else paid for a premium agency and gotten better results from someone with zero reviews?

Agencies sell confidence, not taste. That intern actually looked at your cafe and thought about your customers, which is more than the agency did. Same thing happened to my buddy's food truck, paid for a slick brand package and got generic nonsense, so he had his niece redraw the logo in two days. The 3k bought you a lesson, now pay the intern like she saved your business, because she did.
