TIL my knife sharpener was making things worse for months

Honestly read something similar on another thread a while back. Those cheap pull through sharpeners mess up more knives than people realize. They just rip metal off instead of actually sharpening the edge right.

Hot take: my best shoeing job got ruined by a fresh gravel driveway

...and the thing is, that crushed limestone is probably worse than gravel for those fresh shoes because it moves around so much under their weight. I've seen it happen with a horse that was perfectly balanced in my new keg shoes, took one step on that loose stone and the whole foot shifted sideways. It's like they specifically choose the worst possible moment to put down a new driveway or top dress their arena. Sometimes I wonder if they do it on purpose just to mess with us.

Old timer told me to stop running the pump wide open all the time

Three whole years and nobody said a word to him?!

Fancy degreaser was a total waste of $45 for my screens

Miles, you're probably right about water hardness playing a role, but I gotta call you out on "fancy stuff saved me time" - that's not really a thing. The expensive soaps just smell better and feel nicer. Unless you're scrubbing with something that has pumice in it, the cheap stuff should rinse off the same as the pricey stuff.

Hot take: Comic book fans gatekeep the original runs way too hard

Bendis and Maleev on Daredevil was a lightning in a bottle moment for sure, but just a small correction - Maleev didn't come on board until issue #26 of that run. The first 25 issues were actually drawn by Alex Maleev on some and others by David Mack? Actually no, Maleev started at #26 and stayed steady through #50. So the very start of Bendis's run was a mix of artists before Maleev locked in. That gritty, shadowy look you're thinking of is all Maleev from #26 onward though. @wendy_wilson, that's the run that finally made me appreciate what a modern superhero comic could look like without all the spandex sheen.
