The first 25 issues were actually drawn by Alex Maleev on some and others by David Mack? Actually no, Maleev started at #26 and stayed steady through #50. So the very start of Bendis's run was a mix of artists before Maleev locked in. That gritty, shadowy look you're thinking of is all Maleev from #26 onward though. @wendy_wilson, that's the run that finally made me appreciate what a modern superhero comic could look like without all the spandex sheen.
