I finally saw the bias in AI loan approval systems
My team developed an AI that assesses loan applications. It consistently flagged neighborhoods with older populations as high risk. The data showed higher default rates there, but it felt like age discrimination. We're now debating whether to adjust the model or accept the bias.

Wait, so your AI is basically saying older people shouldn't get loans? That's wild. It's not just a number, it's judging a whole life. My grandma in her seventies has never missed a bill in her life, but she lives in one of those neighborhoods. @valw69 is right to push back. You can't just hide behind "the data" when the system is clearly broken. Fixing it isn't optional.
