My sister's wedding in Savannah made me rethink frozen fries
The caterer ran out of sides and had to air fry a bag of store brand crinkle cuts in a hurry. They came out way crispier than my oven ever gets them, with a soft inside. Should I just skip the oven for frozen fries from now on?

Yeah the "texture is just different" part from davidcooper is so true. I was a total oven loyalist, thought air fryers were a fad. But I tried some basic frozen waffle fries in my buddy's cheap one and it was a different food. The outside got this shattery crisp shell while the inside stayed fluffy, like a good diner fry. My oven just makes them tough or limp. I'm not buying a new appliance just for fries, but I get the hype now.

Had the same thing happen at a friend's backyard thing. Their cheap air fryer turned generic shoestrings into something actually good. My oven just makes them soggy or burns them. Bought a basic model on sale and it's a game changer for any frozen potato. The texture is just different, way more crisp all over.
