That comment about 'tossing the basket' made me stop being scared of my air fryer

Last week, my neighbor Dave watched me wipe out the basket with a paper towel after making salmon at 400 degrees for 12 minutes. He said 'just throw it in the dishwasher, it's not a baby.' I laughed but then tried it that night, and honestly, the basket came out way cleaner than my hand washing ever did. I've had my air fryer for about 8 months and I've been babying the nonstick coating for no real reason, turns out the manual even says it's dishwasher safe. Now I'm wondering if I'm missing other simple shortcuts, like do you guys really preheat every time or just when the recipe calls for it? I've got a $50 Gourmia and I just want to use it without treating it like fine china.
