TIL I was overcrowding my air fryer basket with frozen fries for months

I was dumping a full bag in because I wanted them done fast, but after a soggy batch last Tuesday I finally checked the instruction manual and realized they need one layer max for that crispy crunch, so now I do half a bag in two rounds, how do you manage big batches of frozen stuff without them turning limp?

Flip your basket halfway through - thats the trick nobody told me about. I do mine in two batches like you but instead of pulling them all at once I shake the basket around at the 5 minute mark. This gets the steam out and lets the bottom fries get crispy too. The bag instructions never mention this but it makes a HUGE difference for frozen stuff like fries or onion rings.

Yeah exactly, @blake432 is spot on with that. I do the same shake trick and it's night and day for getting that even crisp, not just on the top layer.
