A guy at the hangar in Mobile told me to never trust a new fuel cap seal without a leak check

He said he saw a plane lose a quart an hour from a bad seal that looked fine. I swapped one on a Piper last week and almost skipped the check. Sure enough, it seeped when I pressurized the tank. Had to pull it and use the old sealant trick. Anyone else run into new parts that just don't seal right?

That reminds me of a bad batch of O-rings we got once.
