Borescope images looked worse before I cleaned the sensor

Last month I ran a borescope down a PT6 compressor and the images were so blurry I almost called for a tear down. Turns out the lens had a thin film of oil from my own gloved fingers, wiped it with a lint free cloth and the whole inspection took 20 minutes less than I planned. Am I the only one who skips cleaning the scope tip between every single bore, or do you guys have a routine for keeping that glass clear?

The oil was from your fingers, but the blur was mostly dust and grime, so cleaning the tip before every bore is still the right call.
