Heard a guy at an Oshkosh hangar say he's been torquing spark plugs by feel for 20 years
That conversation made me realize some mechanics are skipping torque wrenches on GA engines and calling it experience, has anyone else run into this attitude during annuals?

Nope, that's just lazy, not experience.

Oh man, you're spot on. I had an A&P tell me once that his "calibrated elbow" was good enough for head bolts. Drove me nuts. I asked him straight up, "So you're guessing?" and he just shrugged. I get it, some guys have been doing this forever, but torque spec is there for a reason. I've seen more than one stripped plug hole from someone who was "sure" they knew the feel.
