Shoutout to the old timer who showed me the wire brush trick at PDX

Last week at Portland International, this guy in his 60s walked over while I was fighting a corroded terminal block and said 'stop scraping, brush it dry.' Swapped to a stiff stainless brush and the connection tested clean in 2 minutes, saved me a full wire replacement. Anyone else pick up a quick fix from a veteran that stuck with them?

Man, that dry brush trick is gold. Had a similar thing happen to me years ago on a fleet truck, some retired Navy guy watched me cussing at a fuse box and handed me a steel brush, said the same thing about scraping vs brushing. He was right, all that scraping just smears the corrosion around and makes it worse. Now I keep a cheap brush in every toolbox I own, even the little one in my trunk. It's one of those things where you think you know how to clean a connection until someone shows you the actual way.
