Appreciation post: Hit 1000 service calls logged in my old truck's notebook
Just filled the last page. It's wild to see how many jobs that little book holds, from basic keypad swaps to full system rebuilds. Anyone else still use paper for their daily route, or am I the last one?

I used to be the guy pushing for a full digital work order system. Then our server crashed in 2019 and we lost three months of client history and invoices. Took weeks to piece it back together from paper receipts and handwritten notes in the shop. My old paper calendar saved us. Now I keep a backup notebook in my glove box, just in case.

Feels like we're losing something real with all this digital stuff.

Man, I totally get that. I used to be all in on digital everything. But then my old band's recordings got lost because a hard drive died. Those were just gone. Meanwhile, I found a mixtape from high school in a box last week. Popped it in an old player and it still worked, twenty years later. That physical thing held onto the memories the cloud just ate. Makes you wonder what else we're letting slip away.
