Did a school install change how I run wires forever
I was running a system at Jefferson Elementary last spring and had to pull 600 feet of cat6 through a drop ceiling with zero slack. The maintenance guy casually showed me how he uses a fish tape with a magnetized tip for blind corners, now I never leave home without one. Has anyone else picked up a trick from a random building guy on site?

A fish tape with a magnetized tip is for metal studs and conduit, not blind corners in a drop ceiling. You're thinking of a glow rod or a push-pull tape for that job.

That whole "blind corners in a drop ceiling" part, @felixw68, just reminded me of this one time I was running some old wire and ended up using a cheap old wire hanger instead of worrying about which tool was right. Honestly, I've found that half the time you can just tape a string to a magnet and do the same job if you're patient enough. Idk, maybe it's just me but sometimes the best tool is the one you already have in your truck.
