Finally got full signal on a tricky panel install today

Been working a house in Cleveland with metal siding that kept killing my wireless signal for months. Switching to a commercial grade external antenna fixed it first try on a $180 job. Has anyone else had luck getting past metal siding interference?

A buddy of mine had the same problem with a house he was working on up in Lakewood. Metal siding all the way around, his standard panel just would not hold a connection. He ended up trying one of those cheap USB wifi adapters with a little external antenna on a 15 foot cable, moved it to a window on the side of the house facing the nearest cell tower. It worked well enough to get the job done, but he said it felt like a hack job compared to a proper commercial antenna.
