Old timer told me to wire panels left to right, I didn't listen
A 30 year installer I worked with on a job last month kept saying to always wire my alarm panels left to right. I figured it didn't matter and did my own thing. Now I'm tracing a zone 2 fault and it's a tangled mess, how do you guys organize your wiring without spending extra time?

Honestly, maybe the old timer just had a system that worked for his brain. Left to right can be overrated if you're just gonna have to redo it later anyway when you need to add stuff. Sometimes a little chaos is manageable if you know your own labeling.
