PSA: I doubted those magnetic sensor alignment tools until a job in Tempe
Had a stubborn door contact on a 60-year-old frame that just wouldn't line up right. The little plastic jig held the magnet perfectly, got it done in five minutes instead of my usual trial and error. Anyone have a different trick for warped old frames?

Wait, you were working on a 60-year-old frame in Tempe? That dry heat out there warps wood like crazy, I'm not surprised it was a fight. I always figured those magnetic tools were a gimmick for new construction, but hearing it worked on something that old is wild. Makes me wonder what else I've been stubborn about avoiding. Might have to finally grab one for the truck.

That magnetic level saved me like three hours on that Tempe job, no joke. I get why you'd think it's a gimmick, ray_carr, but the strong ones hold on anything with a nail or screw, even in old warped wood. It's not about the material's age, it's about finding a metal bit to stick to. I was stubborn about them too until I tried one on a stubborn door frame last year. Now I won't go back to trying to balance a regular level and hold it in place.
