Adhesive failure in my backsplash was my own dumb mistake
I spent all last weekend tiling my kitchen backsplash near the Montoya exit and couldn't figure out why some tiles kept slipping an hour after I set them. Realized I'd been wiping the thinset too long before placing, the skin was forming and killing the bond. What tipped me off was reading the mapei bag for once, it said working time is only 20 minutes in dry heat. Anyone else ever ruin a batch by taking too long with a $60 bucket of mortar?
