The Tuesday my $85 permit run in the NE Heights turned into a 3 day mess
Last month I pulled a permit for a bathroom vent fan and the city inspector flagged the 1950s wiring in my attic on the way out. One look at the knob and tube and he shut the whole job down, so I burned 3 days and about $400 on an electrician before I could even hang drywall. Has anyone else here had an inspection snowball like that, and how do you plan for it when you're on a budget?
Knob and tube from the 50s has probably been sitting there fine for 70 years, so shutting the whole job down feels a bit much (unless something was actually wrong). Did the electrician give you a real reason, or was it just code covering their backside?
