A mod told me my anime posts were just lists, and it changed how I write them.

I used to post quick reviews that were basically just a score and three bullet points. A forum moderator sent me a message saying 'This isn't a ranking site, it's for discussion. Give us something to talk about.' I started adding one specific scene I liked, like the train fight in 'Jujutsu Kaisen' episode 17, and asking what others thought about it. My posts get about three times more replies now. Has anyone else had to switch from just rating shows to actually breaking down parts of them?

That mod did you a huge favor, even if it felt annoying at first. Turning a list into a real opinion is the whole point of a forum. It's like bringing a bag of chips to a potluck instead of actually cooking something. Now you're bringing the main dish and people want to sit at your table. Good on you for listening and getting more out of the community.

Totally agree, that's such a good way to look at it.

Yeah, bringing the main dish is a good way to put it. Reminds me of when @shaneh13 basically told me my post was just a list and it totally changed how I write here.
