Someone told me my 'top 10 anime of the decade' list was just a popularity contest. They were right.
Posted my list on a different forum about six months ago. Had all the usual big names. Got a comment that said, 'You just listed the most streamed shows on Crunchyroll. Where's the actual critique?' I got defensive at first, but then I went back and looked. They had a point. I'd just ranked stuff I remembered liking, not why it was good. Now when I make a list, I write at least two sentences per pick about the direction or writing, something specific. It takes longer, but it feels less lazy. Anyone else get called out for a bad take and actually change how they talk about shows?
