Every dryer vent I see has Lint buildup you could grow potatoes in

I did 3 service calls last week where people complained their clothes took 2 hours to dry. Pulled the vent hose and it was basically solid with lint 6 inches deep. One lady said her dryer was making a weird noise - that was the blower wheel trying to throw itself through the housing. A standard 4 inch vent should flow like a straw, not a clogged artery. How often do you guys actually check the full run vs just cleaning the lint trap?

Hang on, I actually see it different. I check the whole run every time because the lint trap only catches maybe 60 percent of the stuff that goes through. The real killer is the duct behind the dryer and the outside flap, where the lint can pile up like snow in a blizzard. If you're only cleaning the trap and calling it good, you're basically ignoring the main problem. A full run check takes ten extra minutes and saves you from those 2 hour dry cycles and blown out blower wheels you mentioned.

Yeah totally agree I found a massive clog in the vent pipe once almost started a fire.
