Had to pick between fixing a crusty old dryer or telling the customer it's done

Went with fixing it cause the lady had three kids and no car. Managed to patch the drum with a used part from my junk pile and it ran fine.

...and honestly I gotta ask, is it really that deep though? Like yeah it sucks that she's got three kids and no car those are real problems for sure. But a busted dryer? She can hang laundry on a line or a shower rod for a couple days until she figures something else out. I've done it plenty of times when my own machine took a dump. Feels like you went above and beyond when you coulda just told her it's cooked and let her figure out the rest. Not saying it's bad you helped, just that this whole story is framed like you saved a life or something.
